I just bought a Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM Hard Drive and aSONY Black 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DDU1615/B2s - OEM for my year old Dell computer, with a 80 gig already in it. The CD drive just kinda... died, so that explains the second purchase. It's my first chance I've had at installing parts on a computer, so I'm kind of iffy about this. My family needs more space for their stuff so they're going to use the 250 gig one. I want to be able to run off the 80gig HDD and easily switch between HDDs every time I turn the computer on. I don't know if I can do it, I think it'd say something like Choose Windows XP or Choose Windows XP. I don't know anything about Master/Slave drives though. Could someone explain them to me? Are they connected in any way if they're master/slave, or does it just connect them or...what :S ?
