I have been thinking about getting a new desktop that has a blu ray drive in it. Been thinking about getting a monitor separately and using one i've seen that is 3D ready. Do I have to have a special blu ray drive in my desktop, or will any of the blu ray drives available in desktops work fine?

The requirements for watching BluRay on a computer is a monitor and video card that support HDMI / HDCP. Most modern GPUs support it, and most monitors have HDMI capabilities. If the monitor you're looking at supports 3D BluRay, chances are it meets the requirements.
