AV and Firewall on virtual question

Hi,

I read on some web sits that you should put an AV and a firewall on all virtual machines. Is that necessary? I have all my PC's behind a NAT firewall already. Should I put both an AV and Firewall on each system?

You always need an AV. Firewalls aren't necessary but help.
