Apple formatted External HD, can I get it to work with Windows?

Tricky situation here.
Friend of mine has an Apple comp. He loaded 12,000 songs from iTunes for me on a External Hardrive I bought. My comp won't read it.
Is there some way of getting this music on my comp?
