annoying problem

i'm having a problem with my computer, everytime i click the caps lock or shift button on my keyboard, i get some letters or numbers written where i am writing like ko;87 or UT or 92 and others, or instead it just opens programs like microsoft outlook, winamp, windows media player and such. and i dont have installed any keyboard software or anything. i first tought the problem could be fixed with buying a new hard drive, and i did that already yesterday, and installed windows but the problem is still there could somebody here help me, i can't even write a question mark, cus my shift just doesnt work and i dont have the money to buy a new computer now plz help me guys

well you don't need a new computer, don't get too extreme. well since you reformated windows it's not a program screwing it up. that leaves just your keyboard. try a different keyboard and see if it still does it. also where is your keyboard plug into a usb port or a PS/2 port?
