AMD Sempron 2800+

I have just installed the above processor but the computer and WinXP show it as a 2400+. I've checked the chip and it is what it's supposed to be. Do I have to reformat and install Windows or something else?

Sounds more like a problem in your bios. Make sure everything is set up correctly there.

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to the bios, any idea what I'm supposed to be looking for. When I entered the setup at the boot-up it shows 2400 but I can't see a way to recheck it or alter that?

Well, like with my Abit motherboards, I have an option where I could change the cpu multiplier. Apparently yours should be set to x10(for 2GHz) but it's probably set around x8 or x9. This is just a guess, though. I wouldn't think it would be the BUS as this cases my processors to show up as different processors(say an Athlon 4 rather than Athlon XP)
