How can I tell if I've got a 32-bit processor or a 64-bit one? I'm running Windows XP.

go to run
type and enter: winmsd

check the value for Processor
if it starts with x86, it's 32-bit
if it starts with ia64 for 64-bit.

Thanks. It's 32-bit.

Is it possible that a 32-bit system might be setup to run some 64-bit applications? I ask because I recently had to do a full overhaul of my system (wiped the hard drive clean and reinstalled everything). I have a 64-bit version of Softimage XSI 7.0, and I swear it was running on my computer before. Now when I install it, it tells me I have to install a 32-bit version.
