Unix/Windows???

Hi-

I'm trying to set up a new website. I'll primarily use it for blogging with friends. I really know nothing about this.... Does it matter where I go for hosting? Does it matter if I choose Unix or Windows?

if u are looking for a stable operating system then that would be linux.
