IPod shorted from water, replace logic board?

Hi, my girlfriend kindly left my ipod 80gb classic out in the rain, and the proceeded to turn it on, which it did fot a few seconds then went dead.... so i assume it shorted. is this correct?

It is now completely dead not even recognised by computer when usb is inserted.

If I was to buy a new logic board for the ipod and replace the damaged one (Apple iPod Classic 80GB 160GB 6th Gen Logic Board 820-2168-04 - iPod iPad iPhone Parts & Repair Services) would this fix it??

Any help appreciated.

It depends what's shorted out, I mean it could even be the screen connection that's shorted out.
You will have to crack open the case and figure out what's shorted out.
