I have been considering doing a little modding on my old 4th generation iPod (photo) but there are a few questions I have.

What is the video controller used in this iPod?

How much current is supplied to the backlight?

What is the name of the connector used by the LCD?

What resolution is the LCD? (seems like this'd be easy to find out, but no)

Is there a maximum hard drive size supported by the firmware?

In case you haven't figured it out, I want to replace the LCD with a larger one, but I need a bit more info before I can try to find the closest model. I was thinking a 2.5 inch LCD would be perfect to watch videos on.

Part 2 of my project will be to attempt to convert the iPod to flash, and possibly re-case it in a 5th generation iPod case. I am also looking for a way to put a microSD card slot, but right now, the best I have is a way to put a slot for removable CF cards instead of a main Hard drive (which I admit would be pretty darn cool)

+rep for anything helpful.

Thanks. That might be difficult to find.

I will +1 you as soon as I can, forums won't let me.

I am thinking of possibly putting a 64GB CF, and trying to work up a way to make a CF-> SD reader, so I can pop an SD in, and have it disable the original CF, if you get what I am saying at all, lol.

If not, a 128GB CF is way too expensive for me, so IDK. I will have to look for some sort of JBOD device.
