Default Equatorial Telescope vs DSLR w/ Supertelephot Lens

Hello everyone.

Looking for some fellow sky watcher input.

I have been pricing heavy duty tripods (I do need a new one) and an equatorial mount for the tripod. Turns out both of these combined looks to be around $1000.

The idea is to photograph deep space objects (DSOs).

Then the idea comes, what can i get for the same price for a telescope with an equatorial telescope then just use a T mount to add the DSLR for astrophotography.

I already have a 600mm lens on a crop body DSLR so it gets out to about 900mm focal at f6.3.

For context, this is one of my current projects. Star field time lapse.

You got to have a Fiddle in the band!
