I'm trying to install Windows XP on a 2005 Dell XPS 800 with a Pentium 4. This computer has Ubuntu on it right now and works fine but when I put the installation disc (it's not the original XP disc that came with the computer, by the way), I get a blue screen of death and I have to restart. Also, when I put another hard drive with XP on it already it gets to the loading screen and then restarts automatically.
I know the CD and the hard drive with XP on it are fine, as I have used them on other computers without an issue.
Is this something to do with the fact that it's a Dell and therefore doesn't accept aftermarket XP installs or something? It boots up fine in Ubuntu but otherwise it doesn't work...
