you dont need to do anything to prepare your SSD for an OS install, When the OS installs the files it will organise them on the hard-drive in the best way for the OS. And as advised fat32 or ntfs can be used, but ntfs is recommended

how big is it? You should have a hard drive as well, and only install the OS and most frequently used programs on SSD.
