Hi all,

I hope someone can help me.

For no known reason in Firefox/Explorer I cannot connect to https sites like google news or Youtube, http sites I can, for example checking Weather, I have tried some things making sure ssl is ticked etc but to be honest I don't want to "fiddle" too much and make the situation worse, any ideas?

Thank you

Oberland

What happens if you do try to connect to secure sites (the https ones)? I'm assuming you're getting some kind of error, what does it say?

In IE click on the gear icon in the upper right corner. Select > Internet Options.
Select > Advanced Tab. Click on > Restore advanced settings. When it completes, click apply then OK and reboot your computer.

DO NOT click on the RESET button just under it. That will take IE back to factory defaults and clear out your favorites list.

Make sure the HTTPS proxy is using the same HTTP proxy in IE's Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings by making sure "Use a Proxy Server" is unchecked if you don't use a proxy, or check "Use the Same Proxy Server" in the "Advanced" settings right next to it.

Firefox most likely uses IE's network settings. If the problem is solved for IE but not FF, please let us know.

Hi all,

Thank you all for your time and expertise, it turns out that it was an update on my Free Zonealarm, which I have deleted and replaced with Panda Free antivirus, now all is well.
