Wireless Networking

I have a question on how to get my Windows XP computer wirelessly networked to my wireless router. Here's my situation:

1. I bought a new Windows Vista computer and put it in my office.
2. I put my old XP computer in room.
3. My vista computer is hooked up directly to my router
4. Xp computer doesn't have any internet access so i want to go wireless.
5. Running SP2 service pack on XP
My questions are:
1. I dont know if my XP computer even is wireless network compatible.
2. I don't see the wireless network icon when i look under Network Connections. I know that my Network Adapter is enabled, so how do i get to see the wireless network icon?

Thanks for any help in advance

Re: Wireless Networking

Double check to make sure the old Windows XP computer has a wireless network card. These come in the form of PCI and USB (generally). You can find cheap ones on eBay and at local computer stores. This should connect to the wireless router you have will little or no setup. Security is a concern, however.

check device manager and make sure its installed properly. if its enabled and working the wireless icon should be there. if its disabled it should still show up in network connections. this doesnt seem to be the case

You probably will need to install some kind of drivers for the wireless adapter. What's the model of the adapter?
