Wireless network ad hoc connection question please

Hi: I just installed wireless cards in my desktop and laptop as ad hoc connections. I didn't want to add a wireless router to my DSL router. It works fine, I can see all files on my desktop from my laptop but I can't get to the Internet using my desktop as the gateway. I have the Internet sharing enabled on my desktop. Am I missing another setting?
