Hello!
I am having trouble with something;
i have seen on many internet sites, and in the command line shutdown help that i am able to shutdown a local machine by typing "shutdown -m \\computernamehere -s
however when i try this all i get is network path not found message.
I am using windows xp, sp 2.

I want to make use of this feature, as i have needed something of this ability for many months, when i am connected to the main computer and forget to turn it off, or cant be bothered to go all the way downstairs to turn it off by hand!

Many thanks, Dan!

try shutdown -i and add the computer manually with the dialog box...

I thought this only worked if the computers were part of a domain, and that you were logged in as a domain administrator.
