Internet Disconnect w/ Laptop Asleep

Whenever I close my laptop lid, it puts the machine to sleep, and it disconnects from the internet. Is there anyway to make it so the internet doesn't disconnect but to have to computer go to sleep? Or is it default that the internet has to disconnect if the machine goes to sleep?

the whole point of sleeping is to disable that kind of stuff.
id suggest either setting a really low power mode, no backlight, etc, or just not use sleep

you can choose what your laptop does when you shut the lid aswell

My laptop gives the close lid option, however; it doesn't let you. As soon as you close the lid my wireless disconnects in about 3 minutes. So your laptop just may be one the fortunate ones such as mine
