Hi
I'm planning to connect my external HDD to the my local area network, but I don't know if it's possible to do so especially it has a USB port , while I need it to be RJ-45 !

so is there external HDDs that has RJ-45 ? or is there a connector to to transform the USB into RJ-45 ?

I need yr help !

You dont need to connect it to the router!
If you have a network setup, then you can share the drive!

we share our folders with each other, and we can access each one's PC, it's OK.

now the new alien that need to be connected to the network is the external HD, how can we join it to the network? Is it possible? Is there some kind of connector to do so?

You need a HD enclosure with NAS built in, or a cheap NAS unit. This will allow everyone on the network to see whats on the hard drive, and you don't need to keep a computer on to share everything.

I looked at this before and it's fairly inexpensive and does what you want
