i never like having to post things twice :(

I used to build pc's way back when (for myself) b4 i had kids. But now I pretty much have no clue and no time to go digging. So I am trying to acquire an mid-range gaming rig that will last a few years. I picked up a gateway with a 2nd gen i5 processor (2320) for $509. My plan is to upgrade the PSU to at least 400w ($40?) as per the req for the GT 550 ti ($130). Which should get me a decent setup for about $679. Price IS a factor. Please tell me what I am not considering. Is it really better to get discrete graphics from the get-go or is it ok to upgrade integrated?

ibuypower has a i5-3570K with a GT 610 gpu for $759/ but as a company they have pretty crappy reviews. Also a lot of their rigs gets crappy reviews.

What to do? PLease tell me why I am being a moron about the gateway system. Thanks

Prebuilts are never good for gaming and longevity. Most of the components are of inferior quality and there is little room for tweaking and expandability.
