Before I answer...
Question;
-are you on xp right now? [the one you want the pw]
-why can't you just reformat. you made backups right?
-why do you have to get your password..

if your logged on now go:

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management

then click on Local Users and Groups and click the folder named userm right clich the user and go set password to create a new one.

in a command prompt type (net user username *)
use "" if user name has spaces example
net user "joe_blow" *

if I understand you right here you go

If you are using XP home, do this:

at the welcome screen, press CTRL ALT DEL twice. This will bring you the windows classic logon box. in the username type "Administrator" w/o quotes. and press ENTER...

Windows XP Home installations does not set an administrator password by default during setup, therefore, you can login to the Administrator account without any password...

Simple.

That doesn't work, well it doesn't if you log on and press Windows + L to
switch users. Thought Administrator only worked on Safe Mode in XP Home? I haven't tried.
