Try to clear your cookies and temporary files in the browser's options. Also, since it seems like spyware, if HijackThis doesn't help, try AdAware SE. It has real time protection disabled in the free version, but scan with it, it's my favorite anti-spyware program.
Also, make sure you're scanning in safe mode. Sometimes the spyware/virus will screw up the anti-spyware/virus if it is not in safe mode (press F8 during boot up)
Another thing to check are the startup services. In the Run dialog, type in msconfig, and go to the startup tab. Deselect anything that seems suspicious, and click OK.
