Then remove HDD, adjust bootup order in BIOS to bootup from USB drive and expect
To run a OS from a flash drive?

No. You can not just drop the files on a flash drive and have it work.

you have to use some cloning software like Acronis.
why would you run windows from a USB anyway?
It's gonna be a slow startup. Use a linux distro for USB booting.

If you're wanting to take that and use it on other computer systems it ain't gonna work. If you clone your system it's only going to have hardware and software drivers unique to your setup. For a thumb drive I use Knoppix 7. It fits on a 1 gig drive with plenty of room to spare. I'd swear it has every driver for every thing in the book. It's user friendly and free.
But as for windows OS's, forget it.
