hello

Also may I ask what are the specification's of the computer. I'd recommend going for Windows 7 like others have said Windows Vista is known to hog resources and Windows 7 & 8 can run better and handle resources better than Vista.

Unfortunately you cannot do a fresh install without a Vista disc and an activation code.

Try one thing that might improve the current installation; go to Start then All Programs then Accessories then System Restore witch is self explanatory. With some luck it will be turned on to choose the earliest check point or restore point available.

Before looking for a Vista disc or setup files, the priority is for the activation code. Unless of course you buy an original which is not an option against buying Win 7 or 8.

Well the only way to do a fresh install of Vista is to have the install CD/restore CD, but like other people pointed out Windows Vista is a resource hog.

You would be better off just getting a copy of Windows 7 or 8 and do a fresh install off the CD. You have a pretty decent laptop, so it wouldn't have a problem running Windows 7 or 8.

Windows vista is a very good OS. Just gotta treat it correctly ( just like the with the ladies  ) and then it won't give problems... And windows 8 is horrible. Any windows OS, with cost $50 and up. Unless you get windows XP but that is old. Windows vista isn't that old.
