Hi there,
It's completely frustrating to turn on my laptop to do a bit of coding and it turns into a troubleshooting session instead.
My problem is certain programs that seem to be taking up CPU for no reason. I noticed that Skype and avgrsa.exe (part of AVG) seemed to be fighting for CPU time, and for around 10/15 minutes after I turn my laptop on there's a lot of CPU activity with these particular programs, AVG constantly spikes from exe to exe and Skype purely maxes a whole core for 5/8 minutes.
Now I hate Skype with a passion and I would not use it only for the fact that people I speak to use it. I have a lot of issues with this peace of crap software but a lot is unexplained by their own forum staff (Super high memory usage, bad video performance, high CPU etc) but now I find I'm questioning AVG. After reading around the net I see that Microsoft Security Essentials may also play a part of it.
It seems to settle down properly after around 20 minutes but this happens each time, I imagine I'm getting poor battery life since there's always a resource party each time I start Windows.
Does anyone have issues like this or have any tips?
