Ram upgrade problems

Hello I'm a bit new to the site but I'm having problems with my computers speed after a 1gb to 2gb ram upgrade. So I have a Dell Mini 10v which I got as a present a couple years ago. Computer Specs:

Windows XP Professional SP3
Intel Atom CPU 1.60GHz
2.0 gb of RAM

It originally had 1gb of ran but I upgraded it 2gb rescently and after doing so my computer is running slower than before! Isn't upgrading RAM suppose to have the opposite effect????

Have you bought just another 1gb ram stick? Or replaced the 1gb with a 2gb.

Did you check the speed of the ram that was in there and what speed your Mobo is compatible with?

Well the dell mini only has one slot for Ram and it can only hold 2gb of ram or less. The new ram stick is 613mhz I don't remember what the original was but it was what came with the computer. And I don't know what a "mobo" is. And how to check if it is compatible. Thanks tho

Thanks again i did some research and found that the dell mini 10v cant support RAM that is faster than 533mhz. And the one i put in is 613mhz. IS that what is slowing down my computer?
