SAS Drives

I have an HP server with 8 SAS drives. 2 of the drives are showing a solid red light under them indicating a bad drive. If I buy 2 brand new drives the same type size etc. Can I just hot swap them, and will the system rebuild? Its setup as a redundant file system.

I found out I can. But My next question is... I have a 2nd server not being used that use the same drives. If I put one of those drives in, will it work, or will it cause problems since it would have data on it?

You probably found your answer by now, but someone may come across it looking for the same answers.

Assuming we are talking RAID arrays, yes, you can pull them and hot swap replacements, and yes, you can pull a used drive from another server and the RAID should rebuild on it/them just fine.
