network connection XP

computer wont allow programs like google chrome, skype, and pokerstars to connect to the internet at all...Internet Explorer still works. but no other internet related programs work. i cheked my firewall, even went as far as turning in completely off to no avail. help please!!! i hate IE

Do you have an external Firewall running? If so, then you will have to disable Windows firewall (be sure to uncheck all the items under the Advanced tab) and reboot the system.

You might also have to turn off Autoupdate, as it tends to turn the firewall back on.

Do you have anti virus installed chk the firewall overthere....it may help you or make google chrome your default browser by going to internet option in control panel..

what anti-virus are you running?? I bet it has a built in firewall, can you disable your anti-virus and test
