Hi Guys
I was wanting to know how to restrict the computers in my home. For example stop them from changing advanced settings in the control panel and other stuff. Also I would like to know if I can monitor IP traffic going in and out of my home from ALL computers and other devices. Maybe there is free software that allows you to do that?
I have two powerful desktop pcs one is wired the other is wireless.
PS. The router I use is the DLINK DIR-635 (WIRELESS-N)

for monitoring traffic.

web traffic use a proxy server.

if you want to monitor all traffic use something like wireshark, or snort.

to lock down settings you need to use the advanced control panel utility called local policies. using this you can lock down quite a lot.

And can I lock down stuff on another PC from my main one? Or do I have to use RDC/TeamViewer?

if it's on a domain, yes.

if you're just in a work group then you'll have to visit all machines (either physically sitting at them, or virtually with a remote desktop connection) and change the policies on all machines

you'll need some kind of windows server
(windows 2000 server, windows 2003 or windows 2008).
I don't think that windows home server does AD domains, -but I might be wrong on that.

By the way how do I set up a proxy server? Also with wireshark or snort as you suggest, is it possible to see all traffic from ALL devices on the network?
