Basically long story short..... my girlfriend still lives her parents... and so does her annnoying brother who continulously plays his gangster music so loud it shakes the house!!! I used to solve this problem by when he was out installing a little program on his computer so i could controll his computer and thus the volume wirelessly with my mobile phone!
but i sadly no longer hav this phone! So i need a way to contol his computer fairly secretly with mine so i can turn down the volume or even switch it off!! He is very stupid so soesnt put 2 and 2 together! im not sure the best route to go down?
We are both connected to the same home wireless netowork. so would VNC? Telenet? SSH? be the best way to go? I obviosuly cd just go in ther and cut teh wires but i feel this may cause animoisty with the parents as we wud be upsetting ther 30 yo teenager who refuses to grow up or move out!!

any ideas greatly appreciated (You really dont know how louds he plays it)

Please dont give me any abuse for hacking blah blah blah.. it is not beacuse it is a private network to which i set up for them and its only his computer i want to connect to locally so i can prevent the tyrany of this ogre upsetting my girlfriends ears any longer while she is doing university work)

Cheers

A back handed kick in the teeth might work...sounds like a complete loser to me.

if this comment is unacceptable, I am sorry. 30 years old, really?

What was the program you originally had on there? Is there a pc client for it?

The parents don't complain about the loud music? So can you kick this guy's ass? That would be the easiest and most permanent solution to this type of a problem. I don't know, I guess you could delete his audio drivers or something....

hahahha, o how i would love to give him a good beating but dont think the parents would like me upsetting mummys little (30 year old) solider to much!! - Pathetic

The program i used to use from my phone was G-Remote. I dont think ther is a pc client to it.

deleting his audio drivers is a good idea, however i think he would just complain to his parents that his comp is broke and they would ask me to fix!! Or they would pay someone to fix it!
I would love to just set fire to it! The size of his sub is nearly half the size of his room, i have already reduce the bass as much as i can in itunes and still shakes the dam walls!!!

thanks for the replies fellas

His computer is connected wirelessly to the network.

I guess you could delete his audio drivers or something....
This is what I was going to say, stop the windows audio service when the music gets to loud, to fix it he will have to reboot (I guess he wont know how to start it) he will then think hes PC is becomming faultly?

Telnet and SSH are command line remote protocols. correct me if im wrong but i dont think you can control audio from there.

Just uninstall the audio drivers, or a more permanent solution would be to use a screwdriver to physically remove the headphone-in jack and any line-outs from the motherboard.

i feel like a vandal for suggesting this.

although, VNC would work, but most ask for authorization from both ends like MSTSC does.

@JCB
thanks for the suggestion i like it, but not sure how i would do that remotely. Once it is playing.

@Darkseeker
yeh i was just thinking of it beacuse you can send shuch as restart to another computer, i used to be able to do it but have completely forgotton how! I used to work as an it technician for a largish company and we used to use VNC to check on employees computers, and the only thing that what let them realise we were looking at ther screen was the icon in the system tray would turn to a green eye from a red one, maybe if i could find a way of just removing the tray icon ans allowing perminent accese with no need for permissions....

@thorbird
Whoa whoa! chill your beans, i do have place of my own while im currently at univiersity, its my girlfriend who does not as she lives near campuss and is doing the sensible option of saving money so she can move out quicker once finished.

cheers for all the help guys on this annoying yet rather comical situation

install VNC on his computer.
(so you can control it remotely).

wait till he's playing his music really loud.

then get your girlfriend to ask her parents to go and ask if he'd mind turning it down a little bit.

whilst they are on the way to his room, take control of his computer and locate the most horrible porn movie you can find, then have that playing when your girlfriend parents walk in the room.

et voila he'll get kicked out, problem solved!

alternatively, wait till he's out and just steal his speakers.

and the command you're looking for to remotely restart his computer is

shutdown -r -f -t N
where N is the number of seconds you want to wait for it to shut down.
you'd need to be logged on to his computer via telnet to do this.
