This week I plan to use UltraVNC to connect to my one computer that has a high-speed Internet connection using dialup. My problem is, I need to create a VPN connection from the dialup computer at my house to my spare at a friend's house on a high-speed cable connection, (so I can check on stuff I left running on it) but I want a free alternative to get a internet hostname other than to subscribing to dDNS.org. Is there some possible way for this to happen? My dialup computer has a static IP address, so I think if I can give a static IP address to the computer I'm trying to connect to, I can ditch the VPN idea and use uVNC exclusively.
Both computers are running Windows XP.
Any ideas?
