Windows 7 shuts down after entering sleep mode!

My laptop has windows 7 home premium nothing special. Recently like a few days ago I have noticed when I put my laptop into sleep mode and close the lid then a few hours later open the lid the laptop has been shutdown unexpectedly so i have to hit start windows normally each time. I have a dell Inspiron 1526 laptop and this has started a few days ago. Anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening? Wanted to point out that the laptop goes into sleep mode then when i open the lid of the laptop it says it shutdown unexpectedly.

Download and install the latest chipset and/or video drivers as these are involved in sleep/hibernation functions. You might also want to try running Windows Update, paying special attention to the "Optional" updates.

the battery is also saying it needs to be changed soon does that affect it?
