So simple run down is...
1. I Have two hard drives in my comp, one with windows installed, one for random things
2. The hard drive with windows installed became corrupt... O NO!!!
3. I Tried to repair that installation via xp home disk (not the most legit copy if you know what I mean)
4. Didn't work so I simply installed windows xp home on the second hard drive
5. I have a LEGIT xp home cd key (the sticker on my comp) but it is not working to activate windows. WHY NOT???

I am guessing it is because I didn't use a legit disk but as I understand it that shouldn't matter as long as you have a valid cd key?

Call microsoft, it's an automated process that lets you activate it, easy cheezy.

After you try to activate it there should be a number for you to call.

^^Correct. You call in to the activation center, tell them (it - since it's automated) you got a new hard drive. Give them your activation code, they'll give you a new one to put in, it will activate and your good to go.
