I'm looking to upgrade it to a Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 (the one here)
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130483/show_product_reviews

Will my motherboard be able to take it and will it be worth upgrading?

Thanks!

Why don't you just buy an aftermarket heatsink for cheap and overclock your processor to match the speeds of the one you want to buy?

most intel 2 core duos use socket LGA 775
but, I dont think it will give you a "considerable performance boost"
although your CPU is 2.16ghz and the E6850 is 3ghz, unless you plan on over clocking the money would make a small difference.

Thanks for all the replies, i mainly want a processor for gaming and i've heard the quad doesn't use all of its cores as of yet.
I'll go for the one you've linked me and overclock it ^^ should be decent then ^^

I'd be tempted to go quad, rather than C2D - Allthough it depends on what your using the computer for.

Anyway, I wouldnt get the Processor you linked to - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139971 is Cheaper, and better.
