I currently have a Dell Inspiron 530s which made this a small case.
I bought a video card to fit inside there but it only has 1 dvi port.
There is a vga port connected to the motherboard.
Is there any way I can hook up 2 monitors without buying a splitter cable?
Or will i need to break down and buy one anyway?
Please help me out.
Thanks

you will need a splitter
but!
a splitter will not give you another useful monitor
you will double the image on the first screen
and there is no way that i know of to make it any different
as i see it
you only have 2 choices

1: get a 2nd vid card with another DVI port
2: get a better card with 2 DVI ports or 1 DVI and 1 VGA on it

I really don't think you can run a dual monitor setup using both the onboard graphics chip and the video card. The integrated graphics is disabled to allow the use of the video card.

You would need a splitter. But the problem with that is you'll have the same screen on each monitor. You wont be able to have different apps running on each screen nor be able to span an image across both screens.

oh okay.
well thats a bummer.
Good news is that i was planning on buying a new video card that has 2 dvi slots.
Unfortunately its a small case so I've already moved it to a larger case where the power supply is insufficient to support a new graphics card.
So basically i need to buy a 500 Watt power supply AND the graphics card.
I already have my mind set on
"EVGA 01G-P3-N981-TR GeForce 9800 GT 1GB DDR3 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card"
for my card.
But do any of you know a good power supply for such a card?
