What program is there out that I can overwrite my hard drive before I sell my computer? I've heard of such programs that overwrite the hard drive with 1's and 0's to eliminate the possibility of someone recovering your data.

Does anyone know a good one?

so what does it do? does it overite the HDD . but you can still reinstall an OS on it

KillDisk will erase partitions and completely overwrite the drive with zeros effectively destroying all data on the drive. You can then format and reinstall your OS and programs as normal.

It's a great program to use if you're selling/giving a drive away and you don't want anybody to be able to access your files that were on the drive.

So what is the boot program for? Is the program itself not bootable? Or I saw that it boots from a floppy which is fine for me becuse the pc has a floppy drive. But a boot cd would probably be better.
