cant open files

Hi everyone, can you help me please. I have 2 HD's and last week i deleted the one with windows on because it wouldn't boot up properly. first i copied some files to my other HD to save. however when i now click on them they wont open and it says 'not accessible' 'access is denied' Any idea why and what can i do.

Are your drives formatted in NTFS? If so, the old hard drive likely has some permissions enabled on, which only allow access to certain users (And since this is a standalone non network PC, the SID's won't match and you'll be denied)

EDIT: If this is the problem, it's a fairly simple fix.

yeah, or you can put your new hd in a school computer and load those files onto your ipod or jumpdrive

Hi I think i copied and pasted them. How do i fix it. Yes they are NTFS
