Hi everyone, i am new to this board

I just bought a new pc and am finally getting rid of my rather old pc. I want everything on the hard drive from the old pc on the new pc's hard drive. Is there an easy way to do this. Do i need some sort of pc relocater software (Preferably open source) or can i do this from windows backup utilities? Would it be easier just to copy the files i want and reinstall programs? Maybe another partition?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all in advance!

maybe this will work for you.. just take the hard drive out of the old machine and put it in the new one as a secondary drive. the computer will boot off the primary and you will be able to manipulate your old files because the second hard drive will be there. It wont matter the OS is on it because you can tell the computer which hard drive to boot from in the bios. Which should already be set to the one thats currently in there. I suggest putting the second hard drive on a different IDE than the first. Maybe pair it with your cd rom.
