When I connect to my home network from work, if someone is logged on it will tell me.....is there a way for me to send a message to whoever is on my computer at home and ask them to log off before I just kick them off?

well to do any kind of "message sending" you would need to be logged in. so the answer to that question directly is "no" However, we have some pretty great technology this day and age...perhaps you've heard of the "telephone" ? :p

Hmm...well you could have them install an instant messenger, then instant message them from the computer you are going to RD with...

Yeah, can't you just use msg?

Open Command Prompt, and type in

msg <username, but without these angle brackets>

Then follow the instructions.

He would have to log in to use msg...thereby defeating the purpose, which is to warn the active user that he is about to log in ;)
