yeah, i really don't see the big deal in bringing up old threads. it never gets out of control, what if it's important?

Well, its just always been a rule that I've seen on forums.. ussually the unspoken rule. If a thread is that old, its dead.. no need to bring it up.

I've seen people bring up threads from over a year ago.. I don't know why it bothers people, but it does.

Like David said just don't make a habit out of it. Generally speaking over two weeks old just start up a new one. But research the old threads first. You may find the answer before you make a new one. Or in a new thread post the link to the old one as a referance.
