please help problem with Web Cam

rite poeple my web cam only works when it is plugged into USB port 1 and my modem usually works when plugged into USB port 2 but it wont work i need the internet other wise the web cam is useless. Is there any way for me to make my modem work in USB port 2 if so please help.....

The modem is Motorola SB5100 SURFboard
And i am running Windows ME

buy a usb hub off ebay or somewhere local... they can't be more than 10-20 bucks if you have the money... and then you can plug in like 4-8 or more appliances... as for your problem it sounds like either drivers or a bad usb port which would only be replacable with a new motherboard.

SURFboard modems are really dodgy when plugged in via USB, I've got one and I know from experience. Try connecting it through a 10/100 Ethernet card (NIC) instead.

If you can scrape together enough pennies to get XP, get that.
