My son really enjoys surfing the web for dinosaurs and seamonsters. He is 6 and I would like to keep it "G" rated.I am running XP and my son is another user, we log on and off all day together. What software is good to block the bad stuff for him.

Since I am the administator how do I down load software for his user name ? Thanx

Well, if you are with AOL, they should already have a parental filter installed on your side, they also tolerate a very strict no hacking policy
Many households, and schools for that matter, use Netnanny and all that
You can find a list of them at download.com, but i have never tried any of them before so i am unable to comment much on it

I have also heard that they will be introducing a new suffix for the URL address which is .xxx and has only explicit images, this will be useful and very handy for the filters to block

You can get Norton Internet Security. It has parental control blocks access to Web sites and newsgroups that you consider unsuitable for your kids. It also double up as firewall protection, antivirus, privacy contorl. etc.

lol you got a smily in there. my dad put a condemed (SP?) thing called bsafe online on my computer....the dern thing blocks EVERYTHING!! im not talking about just porn and other mature rated things...im talkin about just stupid stuff like stupidvideos.com and common things like myspace!!! everything...its hard as hell to find any info when writing a paper for school!! cuz it blocks everything...im lucky it don't block this site

O dear yes its very hard to block that sort of stuff now, i know..
6 years old is very young so i for sure i understand why you would want to, i have a 6 yr old nefu and whenever im staying/looking after him im so so very careful with things like that on the net..
Just a few suggestions, that ive learnt..
A pop up blocker for sure(is a must, speesh if someone on your comp looks at porn or adults etc..im not saying you do or anyone but just saying) But even that you need to be careful at what address(URLs) you go to, even through google, as a normal site(you would think) could have p0rn popups, as ive found at time(but it is a little rare)
Be in the room ALL the time also, even if your son is 6, belive me they do very easyly come across the wrong sites and places on the net
And as the other have said netnannys and blockers of sorts..
Acuatally im thinking, if someone or you no if its possible, Cant you some how adjust the setting with your sites you go to, or something like that?

Well hope that helps :)
