Hey all,

Its my first post here :)

Anyway, Im in gr.9, just came to my high school, and naturally in my tech class I started to play around with the computers etc. All the computers run W2k pro, as workstations, and access to the C:\ drive is disabled (through explorer etc.) and your "homedrive" is located on the schools server. Aswell, regedit, command prompt, all the good stuff is all disabled. Fortunately, I hex edited a regedit found on the school main server (good old Search function of windows) and saved it to my homedrive (do not have access to save to the school server) and from there I can enable command prompt, registry editing etc. Also, I've enabled drives, so I can see and have access to the local workstation drive (C:\). Regardless of all this, I am still a limited acount and I cannot do anything such as write to the system32 folder, etc. And many of the policy keys within regedit are "error writing to key".

Is there anyway to gain access to the admin privilages on the local workstation, and perhaps the network aswell? I am doing all of this just for learning experience, I have no intention of doing anything malacious, just interesting, and who can deny that its fun to show off to your friends that you do some cool stuff :p

Anyway, i hope i dont get flamed for this, im just looking for help cuz im interested in this stuff.

Thanks a lot

Rick

Yep, yer gonna get flamed, and warned, and this thread will be locked. That sort of information is not given out here. Welcome to the forums though. I hope you stay even though this post will be locked.

I don't see any reason to flame the guy... I mean it's not the usual hey teach me how to hack post, it's one where the guy has shown loads of innititive and done a lot for himself first...

now heres the unfortunate bit... you 'll need administrative privelalages to add yourself as an administrator... so you may as well stop looking at that particular avenue of investigation...

you can try exporting the regisrty, making the changes you want to make and them importing the registry... however that does seem like a recipie for disaster...

in all honesty without useing some kind of specialist tool that someone else will have made for you, (thus taking away from your L337ness) there isnn't really a lot you can do on a proprely secured system.

I didnt say that I was going to flame him =)
And the fact that he sounds smart doesnt change the fact that he is asking how to hack in to somewhere is isnt supposed to be. =)
