Reducing network collisions?

Hi all,

I've got three computers networked together via a hub (4 port mini) and whenever sending files to other computers, collisions occur. Is there anyway I can stop this, I presume getting a router would be a better idea?

well a switch will stop about half the collisions but tcp/ip natively relies on collisions to function if it did not have collisions it would not work. if you want a collison free enviroment then you have to make a token ring and thoughs are costly.

Token ring would be ideal if you want no collisions, and you would also always have optimal bandwidth, but hes right when he says its costly. Just get a switch or router and it should fix your problem. Hubs are passive and not visible to the network, at least with a switch or router they will take turns sending.
