Bandwidth + T1?

a T1 is fullduplex i belive meaning it will be 1.544mbps both directions which equals around 180kb/s if u take off for overhead.

Sure it can push alot of bandwidth but it cannot push it really fast.
 
its ok, but once u hit alot of people using it, it will bog considerably. mod_gzip on apache should help a little bit
 
T1 used for WANs, fast for standard, nothing compared to the LAN transmission cabling, even the slowest excceds it at 10MBPS.

ok, well here's some specs;

T1 at 1.544KBPS (total, as mentioned)
24 channels at 64KBPS,

you can either have dedicated bandwidth or fractional;
Dedicated:
either 1.544KBPS or 24 phone lines.

Fractional:
a certain amount of channels used for phone lines and a certain amount for cable. e.g. maybe 5 phone lines and the rest used for connection 64KBPS x (24 (total channels) - 5 (already used for phones) = 19 (remaining for connection))

T1 vs DSL

if your looking to setup a WAN, or mimic it's attributes on a lower level, then you should also take DSL into condieration.

Its transmission media (cabling (DSL uses unconditioned two wire copper or 'phoneline cable')) is significantly cheaper, and has the same bandwidth as T1 (1.544MBPS). The only downside is that I don't think you can have 24 phone lines or fractional connection (which T1 can do).

The only other disadvantage is that the message can only be sent under 6 miles before the message disintegrates.
