if you use frontpage, go to page properties and the option to choose it will be there from memory..

the only way that I can thikn of would be to use multiple layers and stack them ontop of each other,

so yu have a layer, put an image in it and use the width attribute to stretch the image, then put other layers on top of it.

Nah, I'm sorry man, I should of taken notice of what section you posted it in.

Anyway, why don't you just make your background the same size as your screen res, that way it will be fully streched and not tile.

Surely there's some script out there that sets the website to the users screen res?

So that you can make your background the same size as your screen res, but so that it will also resize itself to someone elses screen res.
