Default Apache

http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi

Messed with it and PHP about four years ago. Got to read all the help texts to learn how to set it up right. Worked great for me. I was on cable modem (semi-static IP) at the time and served pages from home to work.

f you have windows 2000 pro or windows XP pro PHP works with the IIS server usnig ISAPI extensions...

don't worry it's not as hard as it sounds, the nice PHP people have made an installer that work on IIS (most of the time).

Default Read this

http://livedocs.php.mirrors.powertri...l.windows.html

"There are several all-in-one installers over the Internet, but none of those are endorsed by PHP.net, as we believe that the manual installation is the best choice to have your system secure and optimised. "

I used to subscribe to the PHP mailing list (a LONG time ago) and it got REALLY so crowded with newbie questions that I had to stop helping people. On one reply I asked everyone to just read the help files and most of their questions would be answered and this one dude got mad and sent me a virus!

I like this forum a lot better, now I can pick and choose where to help. I have a BS in Computer Science and have worked at some REALLY big companies across the US. I got disabled in Oct 2001 and I am just now getting back into all this stuff.

This is a great forum!

John

there appears to be something wrong with that mirror, all the links seem to lead to a single URL halfway down another page. Eitherway I was unable to find any of the text from that page on the official PHP.net page, so I'll assueme the 'all in one' installer that is distributed by PHP is fully supported by them.

You'll find on the downloads section of the PHP site
http://www.php.net/downloads.php
there is a windows binary that

"PHP 5.0.2 installer [2,257Kb] - 24 Sep 2004
(CGI only, packaged as Windows installer to install and configure PHP, and automatically configure IIS, PWS and Xitami, with manual configuration for other servers. N.B. no external extensions included)"

The only problem is that some ofthe modules aren't included so you might do well to download the regular PHP zip file so that you can put any moules in that arn't included in the automated installer.
