Talking MIME formats...help!!!!

hey !!!! im new here.
ok anywho, my friend sent me this email in hotmail, and it says that it is in a "MIME" format. I have a bunch of mumbled-jumbled letters...and i cant read it. She says it has a .doc attachment..but i see no attachment. Is there a way to set my web settings to such a thing so I can read the email/attachment?!?!??!?!
p.s. dont use high high tech language with me...i probably wont understand since i know nothing about MIME formats
