Need A Website!!!!!!!!!!

I agree the tefl-courses and pcdoctor are basic but the millenniawtravel isn't. If you can do a website like that lets see yours then. I am a designer and have fun doing the websites. Basic websites are the most influencial and successful in the industry anyway.

I think my grandmother could do better than that (and she only used a computer for the first time last year!)

What are you trying o say that you have great skills in frontpage?

Basic websites might be the most influential, but I think you've taen basic to the extremes!

I don't get what was so much more compicated about the one you are touting as your best work? you used a background image instead of a picture like you did on the other sites? offset a few table rows? what was so complicated?

The drop down menus and animations used were different than in the others for starters. I didn't used front page - I used something you probably are inept to handle - called html or htm as is the moden day equivelent. The backgrounds images I am changing at moment as I do not feel they are used to their full effect anyway. As I said in the last reply lets see your wwebsite then. I enjoy doing websites whats your problem anyway?

I've not got a problem, My point is that there are a hundred million sites out there and thay all look and feel the same, they all look exactly like they've been created in front page. All very simple. You have a book on HTML and have knocked out a few very simple particuarly unstylish websites. - it's not a problem with you it's a problem with the world.

It could have been worse, you could have made them exactly the same but using flash and actionscript for the navigation.

You used Html (it's only called htm when microsoft bastardise it).
wow so do I.

you'll have to bear with me whilst I say that any site using either PHP or ASP or whatever still displays html, just you can add active parts to the site as well..

for a taste of a few of the sites I've made you can visit.

The sites I've made use, html, php, asp, aspx, javascript, and a few make use of css style sheets too. all have been made in notepad, the only time I didn't use notepad to create sites was when I made CGI programs in C (when speed was of the essance) and then I have to use Visual C++ to compile the file before running it).

oh and another exception to the I always use notepad rule: the two made for the mmcc company, which have been made using VIM over an ssh putty session with the server

I've also supported this site, (i.e I didn't make it but am charged with updating it)
http://www.mmcc.co.uk
and was in the process of creating their new site, (the semi wrking template of which can be found at www.mmcc.co.uk/website/index.php )
and made subsites for that company (where I work) although some of those sites are now offline since the products in question are no-longer supported.

things I've done for companies where I've been paid...
I made a sales website for a toy company, but thats no longer available, and I don't have screen shots or source either.
I've made a stock market questionnaire for a stock advisory comapny.
you can see this at http://pcfcancer.no-ip.com/rac/fundtimer/form.asp
.
I've also made more sites that are no longer hosted.
and I've made a few WML sites if you'd like to get your WAP phone out as well...

and I'm currently in the process of making a forum for my friends to keep in contact with each other after we've all left uni.

infact if you want to see a copy of my qualifications and projects I've done I've made a special cut down copy of my CV (taking out my name ad address) you can get it here http://pcfcancer.no-ip.com/rac/proj.html

Not everyone in the world who critisises you will be speaking out of their arses.

(the links should parse into hyperlnks, if not you'll have to copy and paste them yourself.)

(Do you still think i'm too inept to handle html?)

You call my website basic - those websites you told me to look at are very basic indeed. As for the use of html or htm, you haven't entered the code yourself in all the sites, as you can quickley see if people have used it by going to the source code and checking the format.

I can see we are just plain old bickering though about this and that overall.

There are very few sites by the way that have included what I have on my site, many may have drop down menu's, etc but few use them well, and the colours on most of the sites are very poor.

I'll have you know I entered every word of ever piece of code myself, the only exception to that rule is the drop down menus on a sit I linked to wher I used a menu builder.

The only site where this is not true is the MMCC site I linked to, wher I clearly stated that I didn't build the site but was in charge of updating the pages according to the companies wishes...

What sites do you thin I've used an editor for?

I realise the sites are basic, but as you said, a basic site can be better.

I'm not trying to be argumentative. and I'm not trying to sell myself as a website designer.

I was simply stating a fact, the sites that you've linked to are shite, they show a complete lack of design, or full implementation of the html language, the are unstylish and look outdated. You start this thread saying you are a web designer and then link to a load of half arsed shit sites that lok like my gran could have made.

I'm not being argumentative, I'm staing a simple opinion. On the basis of the work that you display (and the fact that you display them shows that you are proud) are simply not good enouhg to act as aan advertisment for you as a web designer... and if they are an example of your best pieces thn you are simply not good enough to be a web designer.
