XP problem

When I startup my computer it runs a disk check, says no errors could be found and then restarts. Upon restarting it gives me choices of starting in safe, safe w/ command, start from last good config, and normal modes. Each safe mode displays something that looks like
WINDOWS\System 32\Drivers\Mup.sys.
that right before the computer restarts and asks the same thing again. If you press last config or normal, it runs the disk check again and restarts and displays the same question again.
What could be wrong w/ my computer and how might I go about fixing it?

If it shows up Windows\system32\Mup.sys, it's possible that that file got corrupted in some way.

I'd personally try reinstalling XP.

Repair install doesn't work all the time. I've used Repair Install many times before and sometimes the problem will not be solved.

it doesnt really i mean i guess it attempts to replace Necesary files for windows but it doenst work most of the time.
